Training in the Healthcare Industry
Health Education is a vital tool in the maintenance of high standards within the healthcare industry. Currently health education and training is underdeveloped. Health education, for individuals and families, is very different to health training, for health professionals. Health education for health professionals can be divided into the following areas; good clinical care, maintaining good medical practice, relationships with patients, be they adults or children, working with colleagues, teaching and training, probity, and health.
Health education and training should be formative and improve performance. It should be a fail-safe process to ensure minimum standards. Health organisations should be effectively led and structured to provide maximum support and development for their staff. The objectives and methodologies of appraisal must be clear. There needs to be commitment of the whole organisation to health training for health professionals; organisations need to be clear about their purpose and not carry too many agendas.
